Stinky ducks

To me Ducks are horrid smelling in the spring.
Wet rotting and half frozen straw and poop before a real good clean can be done is enough to gag a maggot..
I'm sadly considering selling off my Calls because winter is terrible trying to keep things good. Plus I have Tennis elbow on top of the stink and constant mess..

I’ve read through a few forums about ways to stop your duck pens from stinking.
The main suggestion I keep hearing is to use DE powder and I was wondering what everyone thought about this and how effective it is?

I use sweet PDZ and the local grass hay I use has a sweet aroma. Takes care of the barn stink and they free range during the day

I think good cleaning is about the only way to keep the smell down. I use deep litter in my coops and clean daily buy using a shovel and cleaning out the wet shavings then turning it all over and adding new about every 3-4 weeks. My birds are on half acre during the day and they have particular areas they like to hang out in and that can get a lot of poop the hose gets used on walk ways and around watering buckets and I do raking to turn everything over outside in other areas.
