Stinky girl died

One of my girls (one of Charlie's Angels) started to stink like an old egg. I checked her to make sure she wasn't egg bound and she was good. The smell was on her skin and I thought she may have sat on a broken egg. She had access to water and ash to clean herself. Two weeks later she still smelled and she had lost weight and died. I can't find anything that fits. Please help.

Her skin, I think. It was worst when she flapped her wings.

I want to make sure I don't lose anymore girls. If y'all can help me identify the problem, hopefully I can treat the rest of my girls (and boys).

The only way to know what happened would be to have a necropy/testing performed.

If sending the body to the lab is not possible, then you could perform an informal necropsy on your own - looking at the organs, in the body cavity, etc. to see if there's anything obvious. Take some photos as you do this and post them - we may be able to help.

Could coccidiosis have caused the stink? We are not getting any eggs right now which means we either have a predator that is only eating eggs and not my girls or we have a disease that is stopping egg production.

How old are your hens? Did they molt this fall/winter?
Loss of production can occur during winter months so consider the age of your hens.
If you think something is coming in and eating eggs, secure your coop.
