Stocking!

I generally do not suggest people go to other forums, particularly when this one is so user friendly.
However as you are in Australia, and interested in finches, I will recommend you become a member of another forum.
Aussie Finch Forum - you will recognise one of the people there straight away - that would be me.
This will allow you to communicate with breeders of the finches you are interested in, who are near you, so they can supply and advise you on the care the birds are used to.
This - in Australia - will generally get you a better deal - in help and cost - than going to a pet shop will.

Yeah, a forum like Reddit would absolutely suck, those people are so toxic!! I tried to sign up for Aussie finch forum, but I got confused, I'll deffo try again later!

That's what mine are like, the Diamond doves and King quail hang out together, and eat the same food.
So I use a good Quality finch and budgie seed, regular green seeding grass, all on a natural dirt floor.
With occasional - particularly when chicks are present - grubs and crushed eggshell.
How you doing finch breeder? :)
We just gotta put the aviary together now!! I'll send you pics once it's done. But I'm curious how do U make urs flood proof? I'm really worried about the king quails getting washed away. Do U put a roof on ur avairy?

My avairy floors have been getting a bit on the wet side with this rather wet winter we have been having.
But Western Australia is a lot dryer than Queensland. As the daughter points out, having moved from one to the other. ;)
I have a mixture of roofing solutions, best for waterproofing is fully roofed. The enclosure is all tin, the flight is wire with a raised tin roof, this means that the breezes can get between the wire and tin on the flight, which cools them in summer, and keeps most of the rain out in winter. The tin raised roof is just on 4x2 timbers above the wire.
You can also when you build the aviary and put the tin in round the bottom (60/700mm deep to keep rodents out, and the same above ground for the same reason) put extra soil inside so water will go to the lower level.
