I give mine gamebird starter as a base (for mini quails only) then I give the diamond doves just the 40$ 20kg of budgie seed I can find from the feed and seed store. They also get some shell grit just incase they need it.That's what mine are like, the Diamond doves and King quail hang out together, and eat the same food.
So I use a good Quality finch and budgie seed, regular green seeding grass, all on a natural dirt floor.
With occasional - particularly when chicks are present - grubs and crushed eggshell.

Oh that's so weird. I think my dad would quit life if he had to pay 97$ for my hobbiesI wish seed was that price here. But we pay an extra 50%
$97/20kg bag
Don;t know if that means our seed is a higher quality or what?
I would like to think if we pay that much more we get a better product.
I do know the locally grown stuff has to be viable (as in can be grown) while imported stuff is irradiated (to kill potential threats to aviculture)
I'm in AustraliaThat is Aussie dollars - but translated still 50% more than you pay.
Haha yeah. I'm in Queensland so it shouldn't get too cold!!The finch combo should work.
But do make sure the avairy is totally - but totally - cold wind proofed.
Gouldians have no under down like most birds do.
They are a desert bird and in the wild spend the night in white ant nests - the worlds best insulated things - or hollow logs.
I have lost many of the little sods over the years to an unexpectedly cold wind. Boy have they been one heck of a learning curve.
