Ok, so I had a broody hen who had been sitting on 5 eggs for 14 days. One morning I go outside, and all of her eggs are cracked in half with the yolks gone! All of the chickens were ok, so I figured it couldn't be a coon. Last night around 3 the chickens began screaming, and both of my dogs were barking like crazy. I went to check it out, but since I didn't have a flashlight I couldn't see anything. The next morning everything looked ok, but what could possibly be doing this.

I don't know. How big is the nest box? Could be another hen or the roo. Can a skunk get in there? Contrary to what you may think a skunk does not always smell. Had one hiding under the cupboards in my garage. Had one sneaking in through an opening in the wall once who didnt' stink either. Chased it out and close up the wall.

Nest boxes should not be big enough for the hen to turn around and walk and talk in it.

I am pretty sure a cat would not eat eggs.

But a skunk is a possibility.

I had a broody that started missing eggs so I became a spy You will never guess who was doing it???????????

It was my rooster he would go into the nest box while she was out for a poo or a drink and take an egg and eat it!!!

He was rehomed shortly after!
