well, the right answer is call the police. HOWEVER, what I honestly would do if it was me... set up a trap of sorts... lay something they would most likely want to mess with or steal... and sit out in the shadows waiting. I'm kinda crazy like that... but they would learn a lesson. I have laid out trip wires for my egg stealing neighbor - she is very well old enough to really get hurt (60 or so) but you know what? So!?! If you get hurt stealing... isn't that part of your punishment? lol. Heck, I think it's hilarious.
Anyways... I would set them up for failure. Then, since they are kids... haul them home and have the police meet you there. then You, the police, and their parents can all discuss politely how their kids are going to be punished and what will be done to ensure it will never happen again.
I live next to some kids that are raised by wolves. Father is NEVER home. Honestly, about 4 hours a day from 2am until 6am... the 15 year old has knocked up his girlfriend and she moved in with them. So now, you have a 13 year old, a 15 year old, and another umteen year old pregnant... living together without adult supervision. yes, I called social services. they say they will look into it and the father gets around it by having the older daughter (20 something) live there while they are getting watched.
Anyways, I got away from topic just a tad. you could also get a camera... it isn't cheap but it helps so much when you go to court and have tape of people stealing and vandalizing.
