I have lots of banty hens that go broody all the time, which is fine. But they always protest being moved from the coop to their broody areas.... tupperware containers, dog crates, etc. They are SOOO persistent about being broody, then i finally give in, move them, and give them eggs to set, and they dont want to do it where i want them to do it! Sheesh! At least im giving them the chance to set and raise babies! Now they need to be picky about the habitat provided specifically for the purpose in which they are seeking? Give me a break, girls!

Why are you so intent on moving them? I let my first broody stay in her nest with the other hens and moved them closer to the hatch date into a pen in the coop. You can also try scooping up the broody AND the bedding to see if the smell of the bedding helps her want to continue to sit.

I have too many hens and a broody in one of the boxes messes up the laying of the others. Plus, the other hens keep disturbing the broodies, and they get up off the eggs they are on and move to other eggs in other boxes. They have to be moved. No other way around it. They eventually settle into the nest i give them, they are just a pain until they figure it out.
