Telemarketers work on commission, so the way I handle it is I engage the telemarketers in a long discussion. Then I tell them that they must get my court appointed conservator to OK the deal.

When they ask what his name is I say, "Her name is Hell-and Wait, if you want to talk to anyone here about (Pick one) TV cable, new credit cards, or long distance phones, you have to go to Hell-and-wait. Since I just wasted a great amount (30 minutes or more) of their valuable time they take my name off the call list without me asking!!! I have never heard from the same one twice.

My land line is an unlisted number, but I still get calls. Caller ID helps, if we don't know the number, we don't pick it up. Nothing aggravates me like running to the phone only to see some far off area code and number I don't recognize. Waste of my time!

My wife answered a telephone call from a supposed charity. She sent them a check, so now we are on a sucker list. It turned out to be a bunch of scammers. They trade the number. They also can change the read out on the caller ID. We get five or six calls a day from these crooks. Now we do not answer the telephone if it is someone we do not know.

Lately, we have been getting calls from a Gila Corporation about a pending court matter. I looked up the number in the internet, and it is a collection agency. They are looking for someone with an Indian name. We have had this number for about 32 years, and never had a person from India living here. We just ignore their call now.

For a while, we were getting calls from an alternate energy company located across the valley. I finally told them that I do not own this house, but that I am renting it from a cousin that is working in Saudi Arabia. I finally was taken off of their sucker list.

We are thinking of unplugging the telephone and just re plugging it when we need to make a call. The scammers still can fill up our voice mail, but it is so easy to push the delete button.

Wow, we have someone that calls us ALL THE TIME and I call the number back to find out who it is, but "This number is NOT IN SERVICE" comes on! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!? Good luck!
