Stop dogs from "slipping" their collars!

I found that the gentle lead collar only made Lily's neck stronger. She is a very determined dog.

The problem was mainly that she wanted so badly to get where we were going (the dog park was the worst). Nothing would deter her intent. We no longer go to the dog park (have a huge yard now) and we are working on obedience. The sitting works very well as it brings her focus back to me and not whatever she is going for.
I would love to have a real dog trainer come out to the house and work with me and both dogs. They are only as trained as I have made them. Sweet, but have that boxer strong will!

Good point about the martingales. I would also add that if your dog keeps slipping or breaking it's collar that all you have to do is pick up a paneled dog run (Chain link sold at pet & home improvement stores everywhere) and keep the dog in it.

For just about every problem in life, someone has come up with a solution for it: Leash- Collar- Fence-Dog-Run. Pretty easy to solve. And if you don't have a lot of money, you can still get a fence or dog run. Look for dog kennels & fencing in newspaper & Craigs list free and cheap ads for dog kennels, fencing. People give that stuff away every day. It just takes a tiny bit of effort.
