I have had two hens die in the last 3 nights and another isnt doing too well. We believe its cocci. With all this muddy water and snow and stuff they get nasty stuff which i guess snt too good on them. They have perfectly clean and fresh water (we use the nipple waterers so they stay cleaner) but they dont use it!?

Should I use corrid or sulmet?

how long after should I begin selling eggs again?

How do i administer?

does this harm anybody? I know some chemicals can kill birds and by giving them this i am trying to prevent dead birds, not have dead birds.

if this isnt cocci will those chemicals harm the chickens?

I feel bad about this because we like to stay natural here in this part of the coop but i know how bad this cocci is getting. IF its cocci

Sulmet has no withdrawal time listed; it just says NOT to use it in birds laying eggs for human consumption, meaning no tests have been done to know what kind of effect the drug has on the eggs, if any. Having said that, I've treated birds with it, and I usually go by a 21 day rule as far as eggs are concerned. I've never used Corrid, so that one I don't know about.
