This is my answer to your prayers.
The only change from these pictures. I put a LITTLE GIANT fountain pump ( LOWE'S $12.00 ) in the tank. Removed the flush handle came out the hole with tubing to the end of the nipple run. The pump circulates the water and keeps it from freezing. Colder areas could add a bird bath heater.

If you have power to the coop, the 25-50 watts submersible aquarium heater will work during winter as well.

Since it is always full you don't need more than a gallon in the tank. consequently any small heater should work. I don't need it so I really have no expertise in that area.
The nipples also help since the only metal is a spring and plunger. They transfer less cold to the water and don't freeze.
