I have 4 RI reds, 2 yrs old. They all have stopped laying. I have kept them in the coop/run for a week thinking that they were laying somewhere in the yard during the day, but there is nothing. They sit in the nesting boxes as if they are laying but after a while they leave and there is nothing. They seem healthy, feed them layer pellets, plenty of water etc. Any ideas?

2 years old....like 18 months old or 30 months old?
Yep, they are probably getting ready to molt or already started.
See a lot of feathers lying round?

Oh, and, Welcome to BYC!

They are 28 months old. Does not appear as if they are molting, no feathers around coop They did molt early spring and once they finished the laying was erratic then nothing.

That's odd....are you in the northern hemisphere?

Where in this world are you located?
Climate is almost always a factor.
