A friend of mine told me to put moth balls around the coop to keep the snake away (we've been having a snake problem for awhile now... I caught it once and put it in the woods but it came back a couple days later and I haven't been able to catch it again... sneaky thing!) anyway so last night I put moth balls all over the place. Yesterday, we got ONE egg. By lunchtime today, we had SIX eggs!! Yea!

thats WONDERFUL!!!! and i will also keep that in mind for our area!!!! we live in the country and have soooo many wild things that i'm sure would love a chicken dinner

My mother (72 yrs old ) is beyond scared of snakes. She had a beautiful bridge that crosses the creek on their land and she has seen water snakes there to the point she won't even cross the bridge. I helped my father make some jugs that hold the mothballs off the ground so they don't dissolve when it rains. We haven't seen a snake there again.

Honestly....mothballs don't really work

We have rattlesnakes around here like crazy and I've spent more $$ on mothballs than I care to admit.

Mothballs have slowed the snkes down around my place dramaticall, I killed 22 rat snakes and 3 Cotton mouths in a 17 day period. Make sure that you put the mothballs in a container that your birds and other animals cant get in to, I used plastic water bottles with a bunch of holes. Moth balls are very deadly to animals. It made me sick for 2 days from handleing them!!

Moth balls will help with keeping snakes away but then who will eat the mice and rats???? Moth balls do NOT keep away rodents or spiders or bugs. You may have to sacrifice one for the other.

The only good idea I got is to get a pig. They eat snakes!!!
