My chickens are all pretty friendly, but have started pecking at me when I hang out with them. It's mainly curious pecking and not mean, but still hurts. I know some of the time they think the moles/freckles on my arms are bugs or something they should be able to get off. I want to be able to hang out with them without constantly watching what they're about to sneak up and do to me...any suggestions?

peck back..seriously...

lots of ppl here will "boot kick 'em" on their rump to get their attention of the pecking order...

I cant say what I'd do or not do..but we hung our roo up by his feet while walking around a few minutes..
no more pecking ensued after that...

Mine did that for a while because I always had treats for them but when they figured out I didn't have any for them all the time they quit. It was when they were younger. Don't take to kicking them or the like, if they hurt you give a squeal and get up or move, just like they would if you were hurting them or another chicken was, they'll Hopefully put 2 and 2 together.
