Can I put a Store bought egg in the nest to help my hen know where to lay?

yes, but wooden eggs or golf balls seem to work just fine too.

Yes boil it first, just in case she may be an egg eater. I prefer the golf balls that way you never have to change it out, the real egg could get kinda nasty quick.
