Store-bought Free-Range Eggs are developing!

The brand is Organics, I think. It may be a Canadian brand. And so, they are certified organic... That might have something to do with it. Hmm, I think they may be a Safeway brand. I don't know if Americans have that... Egg carton looks like this:

10/12 is a pretty significant number to be fertile... And there may be more.

As for what they look like at day 3... Mink Hollow gives a pretty good image. Sort of like this, if not a bit smaller:

I can tell if an egg is fertile at day 1 or 2, usually... But I've incubated a lot of eggs.

That is so cool..... I live in Alaska... our eggs have probably been around a while before they hit the store. We have a Safeway I will have to look for that brand. Please keep us posted.

I hope yours are fertile as well. Get the freshest ones there. I'm thinking all 12 of my eggs were fertile. One died early, and two others are just beginning to develop.

I called the Puget Consumer Co-op today, thinking that as purveyors of organic everything, they'd carry fertile eggs. Nope. The manager said their customers thought it was squicky, and they couldn't sell that kind of eggs in enough volume to be able to order them (he had to order 15 dozen at a time, or something).

But he said Safeway carries the 'O' Organic brand (we do have Safeway just down the street - I can ask them when they get egg deliveries to buy the freshest they have) and also there are the farmer's markets, I can check with them if anybody sells eggs. I'm on the hunt!!

I guess I must've lucked out and got really fresh eggs. Asking them when they get their egg deliveries is a great idea, I thought of it but wasn't really testing out the egg thing seriously... I was just really wondering if it was possible that they'd be fertile. Honestly, I'm shocked that all 12 are. I really hope it's not just a fluke, because I don't want to give people the wrong idea about the eggs when only mine are fertile... It has only been four days for my eggs and their fertility is obvious.

I wish everyone good luck with their own eggs.
