Storing feed

They don't need rotten wood to chew through, they can chew through just about any wood found in the U.S. with ease. They have to chew to survive, to keep their teeth down to usable length. The raised floor is a good idea though, you are forcing the critters to work on chewing through the wood out in the open where a predator might get them.

Yeah, you mean where my chickens might get them.
I've seen 3 Golden Comets peck, throw and stomp a mole to death that popped up in their pen. They wouldn't eat it though. I've seen them eat small toads. I found a Chickadee in their pen, surprised they didn't eat it.
I witnessed my Barred Rocks attack a garter snake that poked its head into their pen. The snake quickly backed out.
I love my little Raptors. Now If they only had teeth. 🦖 GC

Nice. Looks like I am rodent proof too then! Hardware cloth on every window and 3 feet off the ground! Will most likely hang feed and water in coop over winter so birds don't have to go out if they don't want. Thanks!
