I am looking into buying a lot of chicken feed and was concerned about keeping it dry and critter free. Do you think it would be ok to store the feed in empty kitty litter containers since they have a good handle and would keep stuff dry? Also, how long will it store if kept dry and somewhat sealed?

I would get a metal garbage can, I had mine in a plastic can and rats chewed through it. I've never seen a rat ever but apparently they are here and knew there was scratch in the plastic. It was also inside of a rubbermaid shed.. I still havent figured out how they got in there as it seem sealed??

I use galvanized metal trash cans. I can fit 2- 100 lb. bags in each. I don't know how long it will keep, never lasts very long here.

Make sure it stays dry, moldy food can kill them.

All my dog food, cat food, bird seed, and chicken feed are in galvanized metal garbage cans.
