I have a question -- maybe I am premature in my worries.
Last night we had a horrible storm, we weren't expecting it and the chickens were out free ranging (thank goodness!). Well in the storm we had 70 plus mph winds and the chicken coop flipped over twice. No chickens were hurt, they were all very wet but seemed okay. I found one chicken in the upside down coop, but I think she was just checking it out, I don't THINK she was in it when it flipped.
This happened right before dark. My husband had to get 3 guys to flip it back upright before it started to get dark. I got most of it cleaned up and put roosts back together. The roof needs a little repair but nothing horrible. But they seemed SCARED to get in there last night it was almost dark and all huddled around the entrance, and I had to shoo them it. I went out first thing this morning and cleaned out the nesting boxes, they were full of water, and wet bedding. I only got 1 egg today, and I have 3 egg layers (new egg layers...). Should I be worried that this has scared them somehow? They seem to be acting funny, but maybe that is in my head too! Is it possible they will not lay for a while? Honestly, I was not really that worried about them during the storm, I was worried because my husband was driving home and there were roofs blowing off of my neighbors houses, and thats all I could think about... now I am worried about them!
