splint it with light cardboard and bandaides, anything that is not straight, it will complain for a few days and then get over it. Try the search button for lots of good threads and pictures on this.

could be slipped tendon..or spraddle leg

also give Poly-vi-sol liquid baby vitamins for the B vitamins..(sometimes deficiency of riboflavin causes leg problems)..
try getting Enfamil brand, no iron..give 2-3 drops on beak once a day for a week or so..then taper off for a week.

make sure the bedding is non-slip..such as the rubbery non-slip shelf lining, or ribbed paper towels, even if you have shavings..put the towels on top..

do a search here for info about braces.

you can try contacting this web site..her name is DCT and she might be able to advise you..

the bandaid treatment works. Cut a standard bandaid in half length wise. The pad is just the right size for the space left between their legs. It took me 5 times to get it wrapped and stuck correctly on one of our buff orps - mostly because the chicken didn't understand that game and kept pulling his/her second leg up just before I got the sticky part stuck. Try to go as high as you can without getting feathery fluff.
When I finally got the bandaid right, the bird stood right up and had enough play with that pad space to get around. One article I read on splayed legs said just leave the bandaid on until it falls off on its own... the adhesive wears out about the time the legs are strong enough to not need the bandaids anymore.

I had that happen to one of my Light Brahamas, her leg just stuck out, she could still move around. The hatchery told me to increase the depth of the shavings she was on and that worked fine.

we already tried that but gave up it was way too stressed and the band aid didnt help we might just cull it to put it out of its misery

I noticed a few of my chicks that hatched over the weekend have spraddle leg! I just cleaned their brooders yesterday and put pine shavings down over newspaper (before that I had shelf liner and they were fine; just noticed it this morning). If I remove it all and put shelf liner, will they heal on their own or do I have to do the band aid thing?
