My husband I got three chickens last summer and they've been amazing! However, within the last week, we've noticed one of them acting strangely. She's always been the stubborn one but lately her behavior has gotten really unusual.

Here's some of her odd behavior:

We get home in the evenings and she is sitting on the eggs. She won't move off of them and pecks at us when we try and take her off.

It doesn't appear that she's leaving the coop during the day, like the others to roam free.

We pulled her out of the coop last night and put her around the others and one of the chickens attacked her. It was short-lived but still, that's never happened before.

One of our dogs went up to her and she puffed her feathers and got loud. Again, she's usually just ignored them in the past.

I'm not really certain what to do - we thought perhaps something was wrong with her foot or wings but when we pulled her out last night, she walked around fine - with no issues.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Nicole

She is trying to raise baby chicks and is brody.
this is not bad or wrong but it means she will try to raise her own chicks.

Is there anything I can do to get her more social again or will she come out of it on her own?
