Bought these (2) year and half old Americaunas at a local poultry show yesterday. The seem very sluggish today and haven't come out of the coop all day, no eating or drinking either. The one on the right seems out of sorts and just sits, doesn't want to move. No feathers around her but and seems to be pulsating all the time. The rest of the flock are (3) 10wk old New Hampshires and one year old Polish Lace which laid an egg today. They all seem to get along and all were sleeping on the perch last night. Not sure what other info I can provide. Any suggestions or ideas?

Thanks
Gus

It's recommended to quarantine new poultry for a month before adding them to an existing flock. I do hope that they are just stressed from the move, and are not sick. Having come from a poultry show, they have been exposed to every disease that may have been at the show. Sorry to present a negative picture. Tomorrow, you might try taking them out of the coop, offering them some water enriched with Nutri-Drench, electrolytes or other poultry vitamins. They might gobble some fresh corn, or other favorite chicken treats.

Thanks for the suggestion. Actually purchased them as they were being brought in by the owner. Hens were selling as fast as they were coming in. Unlike roosters. Stress is what I was thinking and hoping thats all it is. I did feel rushed to buy them. Lady seemed honest.

This was the sussex county (nj) poultry show.
thanks
