I was given this duckling, and initially its bill issues looked more like an overbite kind of problem. The ducklings nostrils were clogged by some membrane and we tried to clear it out but it didn't work too well. I thought it would grow out in time, but instead the ducks bill grew completely over the nostrils and curved up so much. He cannot close his mouth no matter what, and his tongue is starting to curl up and dry out. When he goes to eat he has to scoop it up. Besides the beak issue, he is a completely healthy bird. Any suggestions or encouragement? I'm worried that his tongue will dry up completely and then he won't be able to eat or drink.

I wish I had any idea whatsoever what you could do, that is a CRAZY deformity! I wonder if a vet would be able to take of the curled part to clear its nostrils and see if it would grow back straight?

Honestly that baby needs to see a vet. Like the other poster said something maybe ale to be done for it but it's not something we could do this is for professionals. That's very sad he looks so precious I guess he has to breathe through it's mouth.

Okay, yeah I'm going to take it in. I just really feel like its a losing battle

I don't even know if they could do anything for it. Maybe a thousand dollars later they could but idk.

At least you'll know but I saw just recently where they fashioned a bill for an injured swan a snapping turtle bit part of it off, and a goose who ripped her bill apart and the vet used something to mend it if you have a vet teaching university near they may do it for free or nominal fee.
