Strange egg

So, I have four hens about six months old, and two started laying a couple of weeks ago and two just maybe a week or so. Anyways they are different breeds so it didnt take much to figure out who is laying what. I'm getting pretty small but very dark eggs from my BCM, large tan eggs from my RIR, small to medium pinkish tan eggs from the cochin and green eggs from my Ameraucana. The BCM lays daily and the RIR most days. The other two really just started. However today I found a tiny egg! And it's not the same color as really any of the others, but it was in the nesting box. I KNOW the BCMs eggs and she laid today. I saw the cochin laying and got hers while it was still warm. So...the Ameracauna cant lay brown, so why would my RIR suddenly lay a tiny, speckled brown egg??

It happens sometimes when they're just starting to lay. Some can be even smaller and lack yolks, these are known as 'fairy' or 'fart' eggs. Crack it open and see if it has a yolk!

When you have new layers you can get all manner of weird eggs. Sometimes it takes a while for them to work all the kinks out. Hang in there and they should start giving you larger eggs soon.
