My chickens typically lay light brown eggs. But, every once in a while we'll get these bumpy, with an almost like it was painted texture, abnormally pale eggs. We decided to call them moon eggs because they were so much like the surface of the moon. But now we are getting them more consistently and its starting to worry me. I'm pretty sure that our chickens are healthy. Does anyone know if this is good or bad?

I have found that chickens are a lot like woman. Moody at times uncooperative at others and you can never be sure of what you are going to get. LOL I get those bumpy eggs at times but it seems to come in small doses. I think in my case it is caused by too much oyster shell.

Oh, quite like a man too? Lol!
We too seem to get those but I think it may be a hen who lays less frequently. We got one that was a tad larger than an inch in diameter yesterday and this past week two "ghost" eggs; see through and very weak and gel like. Newest layers, I think, as all are healthy. I think the tiny one came from our little bantam who is the lowest in the pecking order.
