Our two newest EE's laid their first eggs today. One blue and the other . . . rubber. Anyone care to guess what color her real eggs might be? And this can be normal, especially for a first timer right?

wOW....... that really is different, never seen one like that, mine probably eat them before I'd see it. I've had odd sized 1st eggs, and odd shaped but nothing like that.

Anyway.....................good luck and taker easy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My darling Agnes produced an egg like that one month ago. I titled my post "really gross egg". She laid her second last week - way large and very thin shell. The next day she laid her third egg. It was just fine. My granddaughter and I made peanut butter cookies with that blue egg. Probably the best thing about these chickens is the education she is getting!

They will get normal. Mine have laid eggs with out shells before (not with the tail). You may want to add oyster shell free choice to them to make sure they are getting enough calcium. Congrats on the eggs.

Now that they are laying make sure to have oyster shell available free choice. That sure is a bit different but yes first eggs can be strange. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the replies on the "egg".

My girls have free choice oyster shell and they get lots of extra calcium with their food, that's one reason I posted the picture.
Hopefully the next egg will be a keeper.
