Some of you know I have five Appleyards, three ducks five months old, one duck a year old and a year old Drake.

Of the three younger ducks one has started to hang around with the drake 80% of the them, one about 50% and one about 20% of the time. I noticed the one that hangs around 20% of the time is being picked on by the drake quite a bit. It is quite apparent in the evening when the drake is relentless towards her.

The second item: the young duck which hangs around 80% of the time is aggressive toward the older duck (year old)?

The third item: This morning I noticed one of the younger ducks mounting another young duck? Female on Female?

Any Comments?

Female on female is very common, no worries there. This time of year the females are trying for dominance and that mean picking and being hateful to one another. The drake has decided that he will join in the fun of going after one. You may have to separate them in close quarters so this young one doesn't get overly picked on. Maybe move the most dominant female out of the equation for a few days and see how the drake reacts to the 2 females still with him. Everything should eventually work itself out but we don't want anyone so stressed they become sick. One of my Muscovy females was so bad in the evening when everyone went in for the night chasing the other girls around standing on her. I put her in solitary confinement [small coop] 2 nights and she snapped out of it. They are all trying to find their place. Mr Drake isn't helping. lol
