STRANGE or FUNNY NAMES

My great grandma was Matilda Range Schell then married my ggrandpa and became Matilda Range Reckelhoff.
They called her Tilly for short and went by Tilly Range Reckelhoff. Reckelhoff mean farmer from the town of Reckel. She was born and named to be a farmers wife and had 14 kids.

We have a neighbor who's married last name is Rico. She really wanted to name her first son, "Porter." Luckily, someone talked her out of it.

And my other friend Sandy dated Ben Clause, Sandy Clause!

Some of these sure made me laugh!!!!!!

Have to add -

When my parents bought their house about 100yrs ago the daughter of the folk they bought from was called - Marrigold Watercamp?
Apparently she ran up loads af phone bills talking to soldiers???

A friend - has a surname Bees - she said when she has kids she will call them HONEY AND BUMBLE!

My brothers middle names are Vaughn and Verdun - I do believe Welsh?

My DH Dad Was Bertrum Oswald - He was called BO! - He was a really dapper RAF man!!!! Poor fellow I bet he was teased all his life.

Years ago in the South of England we parked outside a Solicitors office.
The plaque on the wall read - Solicitor I.B. Ustluss

Some folk here have posted that Matilda is a funny odd name? - I love the name Matilda my great great grandmother was Matilda and now so is my car!!!

Let's see my brother has a friend that named their daughter Cherrie Berry

Went to the hospital to see a friend after she has her baby, one of the ladies there had named her baby Va Gina...oh yeah for real

another one was Fe Male pronounced Fe Molly

Worked with a guy whose name was Conception ( I felt sorry for that guy )

had a neighbor who is a nurse remembers one that was named A** hol , couldn't even make that one up she was working in Louisiana at the time.

Conception is not uncommon name for a Latin or Spanish Catholic female. But, a boy? That poor man! It is pronounced kawn-thep-THYON (Spanish), kawn-sep-SYON (Latin American Spanish). It is given in respect for the Immaculate Conception and also means "Understanding".

I luvvvvv to find out the meaning of names!

In my family: my father's name was JB, he was the youngest of 7 and his Momma just ran out of names. Then: Inez, Jeppie Hise, Lurline, Ottlie, Elma, Dixie, Nada, Olga, Arvey Robin, Rupert, Seeb, Adeline, Willie (female), Pearl, Sapphire, Daisy, and that's what I can remember off the top of my head. And oh yeah, Mississippi Farm Boy, I'm with ya' on the wierd crazy family. Gotta love 'em.
