Strange Q: How long are chicks "cute" for?

I'm a bit of an OCD freak, so, the baby and the chicks will not actually be touching....AT ALL. I'm thinking baby in a Moses basket-type thing and chicks outside the basket on the grass or something that will allow for some cute pix without "contamination."
