Strange quacking sound

Hello,
I need to cull out a few of my male ducks. I want to be 100% sure they are males before I do the job. I am having a hard time with one of my ducks who I thought was a female because we heard her quack early on (I think around 4wks old). But now I haven’t heard her quack in a long time and it sounded a little raspy if I ever heard anything. This duck is approximately eight or nine weeks old. Last week I thought I noticed a possible Drake feather. I’m not sure what breed she is, I think she’s mixed between a Buff and who knows what else. Today I heard her make a sound like a mix between a honk and a high pitched horn (think bicycle horn). Now I’m hearing the sound a lot from her. So I’m not sure what is happening! Can a drake ever make a quack sound at a young age? Or can a female stop quacking then start semi-quacking? I have a female Rouen and her quack is loud and obvious. I also have a male Indian runner and his raspy sound is obvious. So I am very confused. Can they give you signs of both male and female? Does anyone know what this honking sound represents: male or female?

Hello ORiverMom, Welcome to BYC......I am still trying to cull the goose from our flock. Only problem is, we have all Ducks! I am going to wait until they mature more and start chasing each others around to know for sure who is who. The Rouen/Pekin mix has me very confused at this point. I am very thankful they are all very healthy over their sex at this point. :)
