Just wondered... have been hearing all the hooplah lately about healthy eating and how we women need so many ounces of fish per week, etc.....
Well..I like some fish, but cant eat it that often

Soooo, I got some Fish Oil Pills today in the vitaman section at WM.

One brand suggested no ''fish burps'', another brand promised no ''fish farts'' ( unpleasant gas )

........so I was wondering if anyone here might have tried or has been on fish oil for any length of time and if so ....what your thoughts are about them??

Do they make you feel better?? Are the benefits worth the money and should I give them to my hubby??
( I wont give him any if ''fish farts '' are involved!!

Just curious and figured someone here might know?? Thanks!

I am supposed to take them too-- have not yet found a brand in pills that do not give me "the burps"...
BUT: There is a product called "Coromega" that is the same thing, in a packet you mix into juice , yogurt etc.. or just eat.. it is orange flavored and I don't get all that fishy heartburn from it!

My whole family takes fish oil tablets and no one has burps or gas... however I have heard this.

The only suggestion I've heard is to keep them in the FREEZER, but we do not.

We take them after dinner, perhaps this is part of why we don't experience the same GI upset as others.

We do multi-vitamin in the a.m.
Vitamin E & C with lunch
Fish Oil and a Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc with dinner

I take the fish oil capsules that also have borage oil in them. I LOVE them. It's probably the borage oil in them, but my skin is glowing and no dry skin in the winter anymore.

I don't know that the fish oil capsules make me FEEL better although I think I feel healthier overall. I take the ones from GNC that promise no fish burps and have had no trouble with them at all. I also take Flax seed oil and since I've started taking THAT one I DO feel better.

i have been taking cod liver oil and or halibut oil all my life (my dad is from newfoundland and fish oil is the cure all for everything...if you have seen the movie my big fat greek wedding...its like windex...lol)

anyway i take mine in the morning when i eat breakfast BUT i take it before i actually eat my breakfast cause then there is no fish burps...i have never had fish farts...

fish oils have a lot of benifits...

the main one that people are taking about right now is the omega 3 fatty acids.. you will see it added to chicken feed to make the eggs ritch in omega 3's..

Omega 3's help with brain function...it helps to maintain the neurotransmitters within the brain to make sure the "signals" have a smooth passage to that your brain functions..

there has been a study going on for sometime about the link to the decrease in omega 3's and the relation to dementia..

there are benifits in the condition in your skin too

I take the fish oil with no problem, but my DH gets the "burps", so he takes flaxseed oil. I may switch because quite a bit of the fish oil comes from fish that are not sustainably harvested, or they are farmed in ways that harm habitat or cause problems, like diseases that are carried in the water flowing through or escapees hybridizing with and weakening the wild fish stocks.
