Strange request, example of "egg shaping"

Quote:
I've done this - put them in vinegar - and I read there's a way to harden them back up, but can't remember how. I think you rinse them well and then put them in water for another 24 hrs.
Hmmm, something for me to try when I'm bored.

Vinegar removes the shell so you can't make them hard like they were again. You just end up with a shell less egg that has the membrane which is semi permeable and allows moisture to pass. As we all know if we've incubated eggs. Putting it in water after that will simply make it blow up like a balloon. Leaving it to dry will have it shrink until you have a little dry egg rock that consists of the white and yolk with all the moisture removed. That is if it doesn't go bad or break first. Putting it in salt water will speed up the process (didn't you all take highschool biology?) because the salt will not pass through the membrane while water will. Basic osmosis- the water molecules will pass from the area of greater concentration to the area of lesser concentration to dilute the salt water solution.
