I have a mixed flock of Pekin (one male one female), Khaki Campbell (one light and one dark female), one Rouen male, 6 dark khaki campbell/Rouen crosses(look like pure Rouen), 1 dark khaki campbell/Rouen male (looks like Rouen). I had a broody black chicken that laid on two duck eggs I selected, she hatched them both, one on Good Friday and one the day after. One looks pure Pekin. The other one looks like a Blue Swedish, the black one. I don't have any black ducks. I'm so confused, does anyone know why this would happen? I'm very intrigued by this! She is now about 4 weeks old and getting slate black feathers on her belly, the ones coming out on her wings have a little green hue to them. When comparing blue swedish pictures of ducklings she look exactly like them!? She has black legs with yellow/orange feet, she had yellow tips on her wings which now have white feathers coming out. She looks like she's going to have a white chest too! How could this happen? Anyone?
