Strange symptoms, need help

Wanted to give an update on Martha. We had to separate her from the others today. We do not believe whatever she has is contagious but we do believe it is brain related. We had a lot of rain this morning and she was unable to straighten her neck to get out of the rain. Because of this she was getting soaked. We moved her into a hutch in the garage. However, when I pick her up I noticed she has chicken live eggs all over the base of her feathers on her head. Any way they could cause this strange behavior? I just sprayed her a few days ago for lice and mites as a precaution. I guess I never noticed them before because of her fancy head feathers.

She managed to eat and drink a little in the hutch today. But was still very hunched over.

Ended up taking her to our breeder and he put her down. He didn't have any idea what was causing it and said it didn't seem to be wry neck. She got a lot worse and couldn't lift her head at all.

Sorry for your loss. It could have possibly been Mareks disease. It seems to be pretty common just about everywhere, and while some chickens seem to be immune to it, many can have decreased immunity to common diseases. Many chickens will have no symptoms, but later may have sudden death, and tumors upon necropsy. It would have been nice to have gotten her body to the state vet for a necropsy, just so you e, and would know for sure what was wrong.

Could she still get Marek's even though she had the vaccine for it? She was only around 5-6 months old and didn't even start laying yet. We normally take them for a necropsy but it was Sunday and I don't believe they accept birds on Sundays.

Mareks could still be a possibility, but without testing or necropsy, it can be hard to tell from other problems that cause neurological symptoms, such as botulism, vitamin deficiency, head injury, heavy metal poisoning, moldy feed, or anything that can cause brain inflammation.
