Five days ago, my two year old chicken displayed seizure like symptoms: she fell on her side and seemed to be gasping for air. Minutes later, she got up and acted like nothing was wrong. She was eating and drinking for five days with no other obvious symptoms. This morning, I found her dead. Could this be a heart attack? The only other strange thing that may be linked to this is that all of my chickens stopped laying daily. I get one egg a day from five chickens. I just assumped they were molting AGAIN for the second time this year. I thought the Arizona warmth contributed to the second molting. Perhaps the decreased egg production is not due to molting but to what ever caused the death. Any ideas?
