Yesterday I found a really weird object someone had laid in one of the nestboxes. It was the same color as the eggs but had no shell... it was about twice as big as a morning dropping, actually fairly similar shape, too. My grandson said he thought it was intestines! It was quite firm, only a little squishy; I cut it open and it was layer upon layer upon layer of membrane, apparently. No shell, and no egg white or yolk. I have no clue which hen left it there. Is this just one of those weird things that sometimes happen, or is it a sign of something wrong? Anybody ever see something like this before?

Hmmmm...that's a new one on me. I've gotten membrane w/white and yolk, tissue paper shelled eggs, yolk and white only (no shell or membrane), but never just membrane. However, I'd say it runs in the same family as all the rest of the misfires...

Whatever hen laid it is proably not eating right and it came out deformed because she needs more food or something. But you never know what really happened.
