So I have this grow out room that serves also as my poultry office. In this room, there is two cemani rooster that run loose all the time durning the night or on Rainy days. They are 100% roosters- crowing, Spurs, squabbling, tidbitting for the ladies adjacent in the outdoor runs, etc. they are 18 weeks give or take a few days. They have never had health problems. The floor under their roost is cleaned twice daily. They never have a chance to be in anything dirty or wet or pooped up.
Last night I mopped. This am I scrapped the floor and vacuumed. No birds were in or out of this office today. It is clean and clutter free.
This afternoon, I find this on the floor in the office (again, no chance of any hens coming or going today at all. And I was home alone. No one else could’ve done anything either as far as shuffling birds around)
It sure seems to be an egg without a shell on the ground. There is a slight chance it somehow got behind my desk and rolled out. But where is the shell? And it’s a large looking egg. The only hens ever in this room are seramas and young ones at that. But they were there today. And it’s no serama egg. But I’ll write that off as a fluke.
But minutes after I noticed the new broken egg on the floor, one of the roosters pooped this yellow foamy poop. They were on fresh grass all day yesterday. Clean rotated and raked pasture. But they’re not used to being out that long so maybe he got more grass than he should of? Haven’t notices any worms. Or worm larve. No treats or scratch lately. No other signs of illness or lethargy or depression. No loss of appetite. No coughing or sneezing or anything weird.
Here’s the weird poop I know was one of the roos (he had just did it when I took the photo/ was fresh).
Except this crazy shell less egg in the rooster room without a hen in sight and this icky poop.
None of my 43 chickens or 10 turkeys are showing any signs of anything but good health.
We have a ton of time and money and research and emotion tied to these two boys. I’m worried a bit.
Thoughts?
