Hi, sorry i havent got pictures yet, but will post later.

right, thing is i went to a private chicken breeder and got 4 buff orpingtons, i got 3 that were 3 days old, but he had no more, so i got a day old instead. He said at the time he thinks it was a female but was not 100% sure. It is now a week old and its starting to grow its feathers through, but they are wierd compared to my other 3 girls. Going form the top of the wing there are long feathers, then short ones, then long ones again. Is this typical for a male orp or is it just early in development.
Will post pics soon.

Thank you all!!

I don't know, but wanted to say

Orpingtons can't be feather-sexed, I am pretty sure. And there is really no way for a breeder to know at 1 day (or three days either)

unless they vent-sexed them. Which he maybe did.

You can guess at gender by the rate of feathering on the back, at 3-5 weeks or so, but you won't know for sure untill you see those combs get huge and red, or pointy hackle feathers on the neck. Roosters TEND to get feathers on the back slower, but it is a TENDENCY, you can't guarantee it. And it is normally something you don't notice until they are old enough to be noticing other things, like the larger legs, comb and wattles, and redder comb.

cool, thanks for the info, i'll post pics anyway later just so y'all can tell me if it normal or whatever.
Thanks!!
