Straub’s search for colored eggs

Pics
The first round of chicks are now 12 weeks old. 5 cockerels and one pullet. The boys are getting pretty ornery so I constructed a chicken tractor for them so they can be housed away from the girls and maybe get along a little better. I have only move 2 so far I’ll get the remaining 3 off the roost after sunset tonight.

The second round are 7 weeks old and have been outside in the grow out pin for 3 weeks. I only kept 7 of the 14 that hatched. Looks like I got 4 pullets and 3 cockerels.

They are looking fabulous! ❤️

Yesterday I opened the door between the two runs so the youngest batch of chicks can integrate into the main flock. It went really well just the normal amount of light chasing and pecking but nothing I felt I needed to break up.

This little girl is looking really good to me ver similar to her mom Blue.

I currently have 2 broodys I have been wrestling for eggs a couple times a day. This makes 3 times Gena has been broody this season and Smokey is broody for the second time.

The tractor boys are getting along well enough now that they don’t have any girls to fight over. I have been pulling them through my fire pit area in hopes they that will clean up the weeds for me. So far it looks like it’s working but I’m afraid that they might be adding extra fertilizer so it may be a short time solution. I guess only time will tell. IMG_6302.jpeg
