One thing you DON'T want to do is put chicken wire between the bales and plaster. This impedes the bond between the straw and the plaster. There are lots of online how-to guides out there with pictures. Another thing you can do is use earthen plaster (no cement) unless you're in a high moisture area like me. This will wick moisture out of the bales, which cement will not allow, causing rot and badness. I'll be using lime plaster, which is more protective but still breathable, on mine because I live in Western Oregon. If my coop works, I'll start plans for a straw bale house.
