Straw bale garden

After reading an article I think I’m going to give this a shot. The article mentions treating the bales with high nitrogen fertilizer and to water generously for 12-18 days. A couple of questions

Will fresh poo be ok to add during the watering period? Haven’t had the 3 girls long enough to have decomposed poo. The nitrogen is supposed to start the decomposing process.

Anybody else tried the straw bale garden? Seems like a cool backyard project.

Plan to try some leeks, tomatoes, cucumbers, marigolds and a couple others I find at the feed store.

I have not tried the straw bale garden idea but I do keep looking at my yard thinking the Ruth Stout method may be worth a go.
