Stray cat...?

The broodies weigh in at 1/3rd of a cat, but punch way outside of their weight class according to our cat. To be honest I do not know why he is terrified of them, just we see him getting chased off often enough to know it is a thing.

Well that's pretty awesome that the broodies are more aggressive than possums. I know you didn't say that but they must be, because then the cats would be afraid of possums as well. I can't wait until this spring! All or most of my game fowl are going to go broody . ! They aren't for eggs so why not.

There is a stray cat wandering around our street lately and he or she comes into our yard sometimes and then I chase it away. Should I be more careful about it or do something else? I am afraid that the cat will get into the coop or run when I am not there.
Any advice is appreciated!!!

Unless you have very young and motherless chicks I wouldn't be worried about the cat. I had a semi feral tom spending hours lying in my coop once. He was after the mice the chicken's feed attracted. I had no chicks. He and the chooks got along fine. Then I bought some young chicks and had to run him out of there for 4 months. Once they were grown some? He came back and again hunted rats and mice. No problems.
So, if you have any chicks then it can be a worry but other than that? Chickens will sometimes gang up on an aggressive cat and pound the heck out of him. They terrorize my 6 lb Yorkie pup if she goes anywhere near the run while happily cohabiting with my 19 lb Maine Coon who is also after the mice and rats.

I totally agree chicken kick cat arse. Without question. The dogs are the worst predators with them I love my dogs but have lost a flock to a rescue she is now cured of chicken hunting disease.
