Just read this thread. Bless you for helping this poor baby. Please ask the person that takes her in to join us here on BYC and keep us updated!

I just saw baited breast then it disappeared. What's that and where did it go? Did someone mean basted breast?
:idunno
Since I arrived late I didn't see this, but gotta ask. Could they have meant to say Bated breath? Copy/pasted this here...
"Bated breath is a phrase that means to hold one's breathdue to suspense, trepidation or fear. "

Makes sense!

What kind of a chicken operation is it from? A laying or broiler operation? If she's a laying hen, I'd definitely try to quarantine her and introduce her to your flock. She's earned it! If it's a commercial broiler, however, I'm afraid butchering it is the only option. Commercial broilers are not sustainable. They are hybrids and grow so heavy so fast that they rarely survive much past the optimum slaughter age, which is 10 to 12 weeks for an oven stuffer roaster.

Do give her a chance! These chickens always look rough after freedom. But, they usually look pretty good when their feathers grow back and their feet and comb get a bit of color back in them from the sun. Sequester her in or near the run for several weeks to let your gang get used to her being around. If your run is big enough, then inside would be best. After a few weeks you should be able to let her loose with the rest. Keep an eye out to make sure she is doing OK. Let us know how it all turns out!

Awww that poor chicken, she needs some proteins for sure! That chicken beat all odds and came to you for a reason, but to each their own believes. If you give it away for free to someone you don't know online there is a big chance it will end up in the soup pot :(

I have a flock of 10 hens and I raised them all from eggs i bought online and locally. I am scared of diseases but if that chicken would of ended up in my yard i would of quarantine it for a while then place her with my flock.
