Stray Rooster

Usually it's a crumble feed. Depending on who makes it, between 20-24% protein.

Edit to add I saw you use Nutrena brand in earlier comments. Their meatbird is 22%.
Got it. Thanks. I didn’t know if there’s a “too much protein” rule with the feed I give and snacks. I feel like she needs a sleeping bag 😂

I've been feeding mine meatbird for the extra protein. They really enjoy it and go after it first right now. I've been mixing meatbird and layer to make sure they still get some calcium and they pick and choose what they need most.
For any newer readers, be sure to keep providing oyster shell separately, ESPECIALLY when mixing non-layered (minimal calcium) with layer feed.

This guy showed up at my gate today, when I approached he walked off and a few hours later he is back and closer to my hen’s run. I threw him some scratch. What kind is he? So pretty. What would you all do? Let him in? Afraid he may hurt the girls though he talked to them through the fence which “seemed” non aggressive. He won’t last long outside here. I posted on the only local app up here. View attachment 4237836
He looks to an Americana. He resembles a few of my girls. Boy, he is a good looking fella :)
