Wrenkit nodded. She sat down near a bush, her head low, ears droopy.

Wrenkit padded quietly to the road. A monster roared by, blowing hot, stinking air in her face. She looked at the dark, tough path, but there was no figure of her mother laying there.

Firepaw curled up, and fell asleep.

Spottedtail wove through the trees. She purred and stood in a patch of sunlight.

Wrenkit padded back sadly. She sat down in the shade, her eyes dull and gloomy.

Thunderpaw crept up on a mouse.

Lightningpaw also crept up on a mouse. He pounced on it, and his head hit Thunderpaw's in midair. They both fell the the ground, dizzy. The mouse ran away. "It's your fault!" they said at the same time. They argued all the way back to camp.
