Miststar looked at Thunderheart, then back at the cowering, shivering cat at her feet.

Thunderheart pressed himself to the new cat.

She looked at him, her eyes filled with fear.

Miststar looked from one to the other, then padded to her other side, copying Thunderheart. "Thunderheart, let's get her into a den. We'll figure the rest out later"

She heard the word den and her mind jumped to the rocky mud-hole that had been her den since the day she was born. "No" she whispered, but it was inaudible, no one could hear her.

She slowly slunk behind him, not daring be disobedient but clearly dreading going to a den. Good things never happened to her in dens. Miststar followed close behind.

Thunderheart went outside to get her moss.

She watched him leave nervously.

Thunderheart came back with a mouthful of moss in his jaws, and lay it down.

"What's that for?" she asked softly, speaking up for the first time.

 

[Bluebee]

"For you to sleep on, so it would be more soft," he answered in a gentle tone. "Hungry?" he asked.
