so i have been putting ointment on my quails head and today i grabbed her, and she was struggling quite a bit, but when i had a firm grip on her, she threw up some liquid. i waited for her to calm down a little and put the oinment on, then put her back. i have heard of stuff happening like this but just wanted to make sure. does anyone have any tips for a less stressful handling? she is NOT tame and hates me, i try to only handle her when she needs head ointment and or wing clippings.

Instead of holding her firmly with your hand, can you wrap her in a towel that is a bit looser?

i will try that next time. the main problem is she gets to wiggly in the cage and i have to grab her fast or she hurts herself.
Do you have a net? You could open the cage with the net draped over the opening and gently chase her into it. That will also make it easier to wrap her gently.
