Ok three days ago someone gave us eggs. They really didn't know how old they were only he didn't want them ran over by the mower. So we have these eggs ok.

ok. So yesterday I picked them up and moved them around a little bit and so did one of my hens. When I picked up one of the eggs I could feel the chick moving in side and all of the eggs have more weight than when we orginally brought them home.

So I've been so excited! Yet nothing is going on today! What happened?

Do you have the eggs in an incubator or under a broody? Many times it is just the chicks resting. If they were moved a lot and are developed enough then they will be quite active in the shell until they get settled back into a correct position. Depending on the developement, you can usually gently pick up an egg and hold it to your ear and tap on the shell with your fingernail. This will usually cause the chick to move or even chirp to where you can tell that it is still alive.

I will give that a try.

It looks like eggs from several different chicks. Some are really tiny, others are small one is large and green. So we don't even know what we have.

The guy that gave them to us apparently has a chicken problem due to somene abonding them in the neighboor hood. And seriously you can drive down the street and they are EVERYWHERE! Many different breeds as well.

Stressing over eggs is VERY normal

Yes we want to go and get them but they are not use to humans at all and it appears they are nesting under someone's house in their insulation. The house is abondened as well.

The only reason we haven't collected as of yet is so many of them have babies already and we don't want to seperate the mama's from the babies.

But if your in central FL I will be happy to tell you where they are!

Hmm... well we are going to florida this november.. maybe we could stop bye? (lol) free chooks!
I would set up a cage and trap one or 2.. but make sure befor that there are no chicks with the ones you catch..
What breed are some of them? I would be very interested in knowing.

I'm still so new I don't know all of the names but some are just RHI, and then there are a few that are so colorful and just flat out beuatiful they will certainly get your attention.

Then there are black ones and white game birds. No kidding there have to be about 50-60 birds running lose and having babies.

We are going back today.

I tapped and they rolled. my babies are still alive!

This is truly so exciting.

We are in the Lakeland area. In between Tampa and Orlando.
