Stripes is one of my very first chickens, which I got in 2007 or 2008. My sister was taking Pullets for her 4-H project, and when we got the chicks, I got to pick one of my own. The chick that I picked I later named Stripes, of course. She is an Americauna hen. I laughed every time I looked at her because she had such a big beard. Most of her feathers are brown and white, and she's a very good looking chicken. We made her very tame, too. On the 4th of July, I give Stripes a special treat because... well, it involves stars and stripes, doesn't it? (Ha ha, I didn't name her after that though)
Today, Stripes is still alive, and she's living the rest of her elderly life. But she is still her tame, beautiful, adventurous self.
Happy Independence Day!
