This summer my friend and I have tried a few hatcheries and Stromberg's was our last one of the year and we decided to order some dark and white laced red Cornish. I was very worried about our birds because the nights have been in the low 60's here, which is a bit lower then normal for this time of the year and the last 2 orders of chicks we had received from other hatcheries in better conditions we had lost 50% of the birds within the first 2 days. We also ended up with many cross beaks, crooked toes and other issues with the other hatcheries. I received my Stromberg's order yesterday morning and only had a single dead peep and they had send 2 extras. I brought the others home and was very impressed how lively they were and how big for hatchery birds. The males were also very clearly marked and the NPIP number was included on my invoice. The chicks seem to have doubled in size today and are all very fat and healthy, not a single weak one or lesser quality, they don't look like hatchery birds at all.
I hope this helps someone who is trying to pick a hatchery from the many choices out there.
If I order more I will definitely go with Stromberg's again, they get a big
from us!
This was taken yesterday about a minute after I put them in the brooder. All crowded under the light to warm up, but a bunch are already munching away
